AUBURN — Pancakes and sausage will once more be on the breakfast menu at the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast to be held from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 4, at St. Dominic Academy.

The fundraiser is sponsored each year by the Lewiston Auburn Kiwanis Club. Proceeds will be used to support a variety of local youth-based programs.

This is the 59th annual pancake breakfast sponsored by the local service organization, said Club President Paul Gauvreau. He said the event will again include children’s activities such as face-painting, a visiting balloon artist and a bounce house.

Mr. Drew and His Animals Too! will be a new addition to the line-up of children’s activities. Drew Desjardins has been working with exotic animals for more than 35 years and will have several critters and reptiles on hand to introduce to children between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Gauvreau said everyone is welcome to the community event that will feature the club’s signature all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage and all-you-can-drink coffee.

Guest pancake flippers this year will include Lewiston Mayor Bob McDonald, Auburn Mayor Jonathan LaBonte, President and CEO of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Rebecca Swanson Conrad and Sen. Nate Libby.

Pancake breakfast volunteer Frank Welch Jr., Sabattus, member of the Mid-Maine Lewiston HOG Chapter 1980, used his culinary skills last year to make a Mickey Mouse pancake. Members of the HOG chapter have helped the Kiwanis Club with pancake-flipping, along with event set-up and clean-up, for several years. This year’s event will be June 4.
