LEWISTON — Ernest S. Dixon, 89, a resident of Lewiston passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 23, at Marshwood Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Wales on March 27, 1928, the son of Winfield Dixon and Blanche (Greenwood) Dixon. Ernest attended the Wales schools. On Nov. 23, 1963, in Turner, he married Paula Morse, she passed away on Jan. 13, 1995.
He worked for the state of Maine DOT in Greene. Ernest enjoyed farming, going to the state fairs and watching the pulling. He also loved to go out dancing on Saturday night and listening to the old country music. Another great joy was taking his grandchildren to the shows at the Sawyer Memorial.
He is survived by two daughters, Sadie Chick and Ernestine Mann, both of Auburn; five grandchildren, Christopher and Robert Chick, Sarah, Sandy, and Ricky Mann; step-grandson, Justin Renaud; two great-granddaughters, Celise Chick and Olivia Rose Davis; a brother, Robert Dixon and his wife, Virginia, of Wales.
He is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Paula Dixon.
