BANGOR — Six members of Zeta Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, attended the spring convention of Alpha Psi Sate of Maine over the April 29 weekend.

Adele Charity was honored at the luncheon on Saturday for her membership of 40 years in the society.  Donna Kennison was installed first vice president of Alpha Psi State at the banquet on Saturday evening.

Zeta Chapter celebrated it’s 70th birthday on May 22 at the South Paris Fire Station.

Locally, the Paris chapter supports Christmas for Teens and has offered scholarships for young women pursuing a degree in education. At the April meeting, members prepared the bags for the Welcome to School Project.

They are given to parents who attend registration for students entering kindergarten in SAD 44 and SAD 17. The bags contain an age-appropriate book and ideas for helping students prepare for school. Programs given both at the local chapter and the fall state workshop may earn the members credit toward re-certification.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Scholarships and grants are available to members who promote professional growth. Support is also given to international students who apply to further their educational goals in the United States.
