AUBURN — Helen “Nunny” I. Richardson, 73, of Lewiston passed away just after midnight Wednesday, May 24.

Helen was born January 10, 1944, to Frank and Irma Cox. She graduated from Lewiston High School, and went on to graduate from Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion.

Helen added such a richness to the lives of all who knew her. She was a firecracker, and liked to call herself “the instigator,” because she loved to stir up trouble — but her tough exterior covered a tender soul. Her boundless and unconditional love forged and shaped her family — she was a mother, sister, friend and our Nunny. Her grandson, Dylan described her as the palm of the hand and each family member a finger — she was what held her family together.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Shirley of Lewiston, and Kelly of Litchfield; grandchildren, Katie of Northampton, Mass., Troy of Auburn, Kimberly of Auburn, Ryan of Buckfield, Alex of Lewiston, Dylan of Lewiston, and Caden of Litchfield; great-grandchildren, Naomi, Jada, Troy Jr., and Jameson and Carter; sister, Frances Cohen of Portland; former husband and lifelong best friend, Bard Richardson of Waterville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Helen was predeceased by her son, Eric Richardson, who passed July of 2016.

The family would like to especially thank Androscoggin Hospice House for caring for Helen in her final days and their overwhelming support to her family.
