TURNER — Powerful baritone vocalist Larry Gowell, will perform at the “Music for Mavis” at the Turner Center Gazebo on Tuesday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m.
Gowell is known for his emotional rendition of songs from the American Songbook. Some of his biggest credits over his more than nine-year professional career include a performance at the Metropolitan Club in New York City, singing the national anthem at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox and appearing at all the largest venues in Central Maine.
In total, Gowell has performed over 640 concerts, including many of these at nursing homes and independent living facilities all over the state.
He will perform some of the biggest hits of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr. and others. Many are the biggest swing songs from that era produced by Count Basie and Nelson Riddle to back up his powerful baritone voice, along with some ballads.
This is the second in this year’s 2017 summer gazebo series. Since the series is not town funded, a hat will be passed to pay the musician.
FMI call Paula at 754-0954. In case of rain, the concert will be held downstairs in the Turner Public Library. The summer schedule is listed on the Turner Public Library’s web site, as well as the town website.
