RUMFORD — In memory of Doris Virginia Ouellette, 90, of Livermore Falls, who passed away Tuesday, May 30, at Rumford Hospital.

She was born Nov. 18, 1926, the youngest daughter of Raoul and Delvina (Cote) Duguay and was born and raised on Church Street in Chisholm. Doris was the youngest of six children, Armand, Dinora, Amedee, Adelard “Duds” and Jeanette. Doris was a 1945 graduate of Jay High School. She married World War II veteran Percy Denis Ouellette on April 22, 1946, who passed away in 2015 after 69 years of marriage.

Doris learned to sing by listening to the electric piano tune and from words written beside each note being played. Her love for music remained and Doris was in chorus all through Jay Grammar School and High School and St. Rose Catholic Church.

A great privilege in the service of God, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, and served as a lector of the Word, Eucharistic minister, hospitality greeter, collection processor and bulletin stuffer and was in the weekend choir, funeral service choir and ecumenical choir. Doris was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle 677 and life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW Post 3335.

Doris enjoyed following her husband with his duties in the Knights of Columbus, St. Rose of Lima Council 320 and also VFW Post 3335. In 1995, she served as secretary for five years for the Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens and was chairman three years for the American Heart Association. She was also an American Cancer Society volunteer. In later years, her hobby was raising African violets and playing the Skip-Bo card game. She is remembered for her excellent baked goods, especially her cookies, and journaling.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Emily Fauk and her husband, Mark of Newnan, Ga. and Helen Hobbs and her husband, Michael, of Jay; three grandchildren, Vanessa and Joseph Todhunter III, Nathan Fauk and wife, Brittany, and Brandon Hobbs and wife, Jennifer; stepgrandsons, Garrett and Simon Dolbec; one great-grandson, Cameron Todhunter; and five great-granddaughters, Abriana and Alana Todhunter, Haley and Casey-Jo Fauk, and Charlotte Hobbs; brother-in-law, Adrien Ouellette and wife, Barbara, of New Hampshire; two nephews, David Labbe and his wife, Debbie, of Jay and Donald Labbe of Livermore; and her niece, Joan Duguay Hyland of Tennessee.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Armand, Dinora, Amedee, and Adelard Duguay, and Jeannette Labbe.
