AUBURN — Joan L. (Roy) Culpovich, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 26, at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was born in Lewiston on July 13, 1946, the daughter of the late Florian and Beatrice (Turcotte) Roy.

Joan was a devout Catholic, regularly attending mass at Holy Family Church in Lewiston. She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools there. She then became a hairdresser, her passion in life for some 30-plus years. On July 3, 1993, she married Anthony (Tony) Culpovich, and they shared a loving marriage of 24 years. Her hobbies included gardening, shopping and making one-of-a-kind baked goods. Tony and Joan were members of the Countryside Dancers in Lewiston and together they enjoyed many nights dancing. Her favorite other thing to do was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In May 2000, she and Tony moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where they spent six enjoyable years before moving back to Lewiston.

Joan is survived by her husband; her son, Brian W. Harrison and his wife, Cassie, of Lewiston; her daughter, Kelly-Jo Bedford of Greene; her three brothers, Laurier Roy and his wife, Regina, of Orr’s Island, Daniel and his wife, Sheryl Roy, of Raymond, N.H., and Paul and his wife, Diane Roy, of Wales; her grandchildren, Dustin Harrison, Kailynn Bedford, Jeffrey Alan Bean, Morgan Leigh and Devin Andrew; her great-grandson, Jeffrey Alan Harrison; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Friends and family are invited to share their memories and offer their condolences by visiting Joan’s online guestbook at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
