LEWISTON — Maurice Pelletier Sr., 72, a resident of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 22 at Central Maine Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in St. Basile, New Brunswick, Sept. 5, 1944, the son of Auguste and Noella (Bouchard) Pelletier.

Maurice immigrated as a young man from Canada, working in various textile mills developing his mechanical abilities. He was then employed most of his life for Country Kitchen Bakery as their industrial mechanic for over 40 years and enjoyed playing on their company’s softball team for many years, retiring in 2006.

Following his retirement, he enjoyed attending Mainiacs Hockey games in Lewiston, family barbecues, and was an avid sportsman.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita; one son, Maurice Pelletier Jr. and fiancée, Kristina, of Auburn; three stepsons, Ricky, Michael, and Scott Cyr; one daughter, Paula Pelletier and partner, Evelyn, of Whately, Mass.; one stepdaughter, Debra Aubut and fiancé, Ricky, of Lewiston; one brother, Paul Pelletier of Lewiston; two sisters, Carole Pelletier of Lewiston and Mona Thibault and husband, Skippy, of Lisbon. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Caelan, Emma, Erica, Evan, Jennifer, Danielle, Ricky, Michael, and Tiffany as well as many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Madeleine Martin and Monique Crabtree as well as two brothers, Leo and Gerard Pelletier.
