LEWISTON — The Maine Music Society welcomes Rick O’Brien to its board of directors. He brings a unique knowledge and diverse experiences to help the board meet its goals.
O’Brien is a local attorney, having practiced with the firm of Linnell, Choate and Webber for the past 35 years.
Through the years, O’Brien has served in various capacities for a number of municipal and nongovernmental organizations. He was president of the Mechanic Falls Development Commission, chairman of the Mechanic Falls Budget Committee, president of the Great Falls Balloon Festival, and long-time chairman of the Winthrop Planning Board.
He is also the board treasurer for the Araxine Sawyer Memorial Foundation and has served in a variety of leadership positions for the First Universalist Church in Auburn.
Artistically, O’Brien has been singing in the tenor section of the Maine Music Society Chorale for the past four years as well as in the society’s Chamber Singers. He also sings in his church choir, has been a member of the cast for the fall musical with the Theater at Monmouth for the past 10 years, and is a devoted bluegrass mandolinist.
