SOUTH PORTLAND (WGME) — Bon Ton in South Portland is closing its doors for good.
The retailer announced Tuesday that it is closing its Maine Mall location in South Portland.
The store will close at the end of August.
The company says 55 workers at the store will be impacted by the closure.
The company says it evaluates its store’s portfolios on an ongoing basis to determine a location’s long-term viability.
It says the decision to close a store is never an easy one.
The affected workers will receive severance pay.
Bon-Ton opened its South Portland store in September 2013.
