DURHAM — Voters Tuesday passed a Regional School Unit 5 budget of $32.23 million by a vote of 875-591.
The budget is a $1.2 million increase from last year.
In a letter to the school district, Superintendent Becky Foley said, “In the governor’s currently proposed state budget, the RSU 5 state subsidy will decrease by $212,000.”
That makes the net impact on taxation across the three towns 5.25 percent for a $1.23 million increase.
The towns voted as follows:
• Pownal, 71-112;
• Freeport, 620-233; and
• Durham, 184-246.
