RUMFORD — Dylan Desroches had three hits Saturday to pace River Valley to a 6-2 victory over Augusta in opening-week American Legion baseball action Saturday, earning its first win of the season.
Luke Lueders, Cam Godbois, and Cooper Chiasson each had two hits while Gavin Arsenault had a double.
Augusta (1-2) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second before River Valley (1-1) scored three in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. River Valley scored twice more in the bottom of the fifth and once more in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Ethan Laubauskas picked up the victory, going the first five innings before being relieved by Godbois.
Godbois threw two innings and picked the up the save. Augusta had only four hits in the game. For Augusta, Chis Slorek went the distance, allowing 10 hits over seven innings and was tagged with the loss.
