Historical society summer hours

POLAND — The Poland Historical Society  is now open for the rest of the season from  1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, during the months of June, July and August at 1231 Main St., at the old school house. 

Many new displays are available to view, and the new barn is open for viewing. The public is welcome.

Wabanaki REACH workshop

AUGUSTA — Maine-Wabanaki REACH is sponsoring a free public workshop, titled “Decolonization and the Role of Faith Communities,” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Unitarian-Universalist Community Church of Augusta, 6 Summer St.

This workshop is intended for people of faith who wish to understand the destructive impacts of colonization and take actions to repair the harms to indigenous people, the land, and creating a more just and compassionate society.

The workshop will provide beverages and snacks, but participants are advised to bring a brown bag lunch.

Light the Garden in Norway

NORWAY — A Light the Garden Party will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Alan Day Community Garden, 26 Whitman St.

The Cobblestones band will play, food and drinks will be provided, and a silent auction will be held.

Summer reading at Carrabassett Valley

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — This year’s theme for the Summer Reading Program is “Build a Better World.”

All Sugarloaf area residents are invited to sign up for the Carrabassett Valley Public Library program. The first 20 to sign up will receive a backpack and voucher for a Sea Dogs baseball game ticket.

Participants will also receive a reading log and bookmark and have an ice cream social at the end of the summer.

Toddler story times are selected Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Check the Facebook page for updates on activities.

Sign-up for the program begins on Wednesday, June 28. Summer hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a..m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
