UMaine Extension pickling workshop
PARIS — Preserving the harvest will be the focus of a University of Maine Cooperative Extension workshop that will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m.Wednesday, July 26, at the UMaine Extension office, 9 Olson Road.
Taught by Extension food preservation community education assistant Kate McCarty, the hands-on workshop will teach basics of canning and freezing, including how to use a water bath canner to pickle.
The $20 fee includes fresh produce and canning jars. Registration is required.

Giantess exhibit in Wilton
WILTON — Giantess Sylvia Hardy, who was born in Wilton was exhibited in P.T. Barnum’s American Museum in the 1850s as a nearly eight-foot-tall curiosity, will be the topic of an exhibit at the Wilton Farm and Home Museum.
The exhibit will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays through August.

The Weary Club to meet
NORWAY — Friends and members of The Weary Club will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 15, for coffee and to catch up on what everyone has been doing this summer.
