JAY — Three Jay residents were injured Wednesday afternoon when a car pulled from a driveway into the path of a pickup truck on Route 4, police said.

Lovis Noyes, 77, tried to cross from the southbound to the northbound lane and didn’t see a truck driven by Terry Trask, 67, near Howie’s Welding and Fabrication in North Jay, Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said.

Trask tried unsuccessfully to avoid a head-on collision, Fournier said. The truck went off the road and down an embankment.

Noyes and Toney Johnson, 29, a passenger in Trask’s truck, were taken by NorthStar EMS ambulances to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

Trask was checked at the scene but declined to be taken by ambulance to the hospital, Fournier said.

Route 4 was down to one lane until the scene was cleaned up.

Jay Fire Rescue Department and Wilton police officer Tyler Fournier assisted Fournier at the accident, which was reported at 12:33 p.m.
