DAMARISCOTTA — A Sabattus man was one of eight people charged in a prostitution sting earlier this week in Lincoln County.
James Carville, 32, was charged with engaging a prostitute, accused of responding to an ad on Craigslist for what police described as a sex-for-money exchange.
Carville, in an interview with WGME, has denied the accusations.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s officials said they began investigating the ads posted on Craiglist and Backpage beginning in April. This week, they arrested 26-year-old Angela McCracken, who allegedly posted the ads, and charged her with engaging in prostitution.
Police also charged Carville and six other men accused of responding to the ads. Each was summoned on a charge of engaging a prostitute.
