LOVELL — The Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library is holding a Pizza and Book Party from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 21, featuring a build-your-own pizza and book review party.
The event is suitable for children age 10 and older and their families. A portable wood-fired clay oven from Fly Away Farm will be available to bake pizzas, and dessert and book discussion will follow.
Discussion will center on “The Island of Beyond,” one of the finalists for the 2017 Maine Literary Award. Author Elizabeth Atkinson will be available to talk about the local legend that inspired the novel, which is set on an island in a Maine lake.
Copies of “The Island of Beyond” are available to check out at the library.
Those planning to attend are asked to sign up at the library so there is enough pizza available for all attendees.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
