The Sandy River Ramblers returns to Mt. Vernon Community Center for a performance at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22. The concert features many original songs about Maine topics, including some crowd favorites such as “Cry of the Loon,” “Slow Down (You’ll Hit a Moose),” “Trout On the Line” and “Boots From L. L. Bean.” The band features, from left, lead and harmony by Julie Davenport; the songwriting of Stacy Keach; the banjo playing of Bud Godsoe; fiddling of Don LeBlance; with Dana Reynolds on the bass. Maine writer (and Mt. Vernon resident) George Smith has called the Ramblers’ “Cry of the Loon” CD “a gift to Mainers.” There is the distinct possibility a couple of surprise guest performers may show. Refreshments will be sold at intermission. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door. FMI: 207-397-2241.
