Henry Hanson says that D. E. Parlin is the official wrecker at Lake Auburn and is growing wealthy on salvage that he gets for towing damaged craft to port. On the other hand, Parlin says that Henry keeps him quite busy enforcing the rules against swimming in the lake.

50 years ago, 1967
Lewiston Public Works crews have uncovered a ruptured water gate under Lincoln Street, where a water break occurred a week ago. Adams said he believes the gate is so deteriorated that it will have to be replaced. The gate is located just northerly of the intersection of Cedar Street and Lincoln Street. In order to make repairs, the gate was closed last Friday. It ruptured and repairs in the area of the first break were delayed for some time. “Work is expected to start on replacing the gate as soon as the ordered parts are received,” Adams said.
