AUBURN — Jacqueline Carpentier Royer, 84, of Sabattus passed away Friday, Aug. 11, at The Androscoggin Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Mexico on March 20, 1933, the fourth child of the late Eugene and Emilienne Lapointe Carpentier Sr. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952. That summer on July 12, 1952, she married Donald Royer and they spent 65 wonderful years together raising their two children in Lewiston and Auburn.

While raising her family, Jackie was employed by Dr. Marcel Berube and Dr. Sarto Sasseville in their dental offices. She also worked many years at Head Start and did volunteer work for Horizon 55 and Holy Cross Bingo. She was a longtime communicant of the parishes of St. Louis, Holy Cross and Our Lady of the Rosary churches. Jackie was an incredibly devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a tremendous love for her family. She supported all of the various academic and sporting events of her children and grandchildren throughout the years.

Jackie loved hosting family events, especially an annual Christmas Eve party for all friends and family. She had many hobbies, including sewing, reading, cards, puzzles and games of all kinds, bird-watching, visiting casinos and annually attending the Fryeburg Fair. Jackie was a wonderful cook and loved trying new recipes to share with friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling and picnicking with her family throughout the Northeast including many trips to Canada, New York and Vermont. For many years, the family also camped at Hogan Pond in Oxford.

Jackie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald Royer; her daughter, Irene, and her son, Fred and his wife, Karen; two grandchildren, Kristi Ouellette and her husband, Joe, of Cumberland, and Kelsi Gagne and her husband, Eric, of Portland; three great-grandchildren, Elle and Emry Ouellette and Hadley Gagne. She is also survived by her sister, Madeleine Bilodeau; her brother, Eugene Carpentier Jr. and his wife, Rena; her brother-in-law, Roger and his wife, Terry Royer; and many very special nieces and nephews.

Jackie was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Alfredo Carpentier.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Nicholette Erickson, the staff at CMMC and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, as well as her daughter, Irene, for all the kindness and wonderful care she received during her illness.
