Insurance coverage for health care should be based on a system that is separate but equal and, most importantly, affordable. By that, I mean creating pools of participation at a level that would be acceptable for the everyday citizen of this great country.

Employer-based plans cover the majority of working Americans. Self-employed people should also qualify for subsidies to ensure that they pay a fair cost compared to employed people.

Because each person is in a unique situation, the remaining people would choose which pool of participation best suits them. Opting out would mean that whoever is left would have to depend on the charity of others.
