GREENWOOD — Mt. Abram announces that Bob Harkins, a Maine native and ski industry veteran, has been named general manager. He resides in Bethel with his wife.
Harkins has held many positions in the ski industry dating back to the mid-1960s. His path in the industry has included many years as an Alpine coach with Sunday River Ski Resort; Gould Academy; Alpental, Washington; and eight years as assistant alpine director and director of athlete development with the United States Ski Team.
He also served as a senior manager at Sunday River Ski Resort for 15 years during the big growth years of the late ’80s and ’90s. He most recently worked at Gould Academy as director of its winter term program, before leaving in 2016 to pursue his passion of fly fishing as a registered Maine Guide. He is an internationally certified coach and a 2010 inductee of the Maine Ski Hall of Fame.
He will begin his role on Sept. 1.
