AUBURN — Rita E. Beaule, 94, of The Chapman House in Auburn died Thursday August 24, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Lewiston on March 6, 1923 a daughter of the late Emile and Clara (St. Laurent) Fontaine. She was educated in local schools. Rita married Leo Beaule on September 16, 1939, they spent almost fifty amazing years together until Leo passed in April of 1998. In her younger years Rita worked for some local shoe shops but later starting working for Dostie Jewelers and worked for them for over 25 years until she retired.

Rita was a longtime member of Our Lady of The Rosary Church in Sabattus, the Senior Citizens, and was past president and vice president of the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Post 135. She was an avid bowler and in her spare time, she knitted and crocheted hats and mittens for local schools. After retirement, she loved traveling the U.S. with her husband.

She is survived by a daughter Connie Martin of Auburn; a son Ronnie Beaule and his wife Donna of Greene; a son-in-law Charlie Lajoie of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, Ronnie, Michelle, Carol, Debbie, Kelly, Kim, Michael and Michelle; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Joline Lajoie; a son-in-law Robert Martin; and three brothers: Emilien, Leon and Ralph Fontaine.
