AUBURN — Two drivers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries after their cars collided on Route 4 in Auburn on Tuesday afternoon, according to Police Sgt. Jason Moore.
Lisa Gilpatric, 53, of Auburn was stopped in the northbound lane of Turner Road at about 12:36 p.m., waiting to turn left onto Townsend Brook Road, when her 2016 Chevrolet Spark was rear-ended by a 2008 Volkswagen Golf driven by Riley Whitcomb, 19, also of Auburn.
Whitcomb did not see Gilpatric stopped in the road because he was texting while driving, police said. Whitcomb received a traffic citation for texting while driving, Moore said.
