State police investigate a crash that killed motorcyclists Jamie Gross, 58, of Belmont and Aaron White-Sevigny, 25, of Windsor on Interstate 95 in Augusta on Sunday. The two were riding in the annual United Bikers Toy Run from Augusta to Windsor Fairgrounds.

Two bikers were killed Sunday in a crash on the Maine Turnpike.

State police said two motorcyclists riding in the United Bikers Toy Run were killed Sunday afternoon in a collision with a pickup truck on Interstate 95 in Augusta. 

Four other people were injured and transported to Maine General hospital in Augusta, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.  

The motorcyclists who were killed were Jamie Gross, 58, of Belmont and Aaron White-Sevigny, 25, of Windsor. Gross died at the scene and White-Sevigny died at the hospital, McCausland said.

They were on separate motorcycles.

A man and woman riding on one bike were also taken to the hospital with road rash. They were identified as Trevor Proctor, 50, and his passenger, Tori McGraw, 46, McCausland said. Their hometowns were not immediately available.

The driver of the pickup was 67-year-old William Nusom of Hollis, McCausland said. Nusom’s passenger was his mother, Anna Nusom, 99, also of Hollis.

Troopers said Proctor, McGraw and the Nusoms were being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Augusta Fire Department transported them to the hospital about a mile from the crash.

The collision occurred between exits 112 and 113 in the northbound lanes just after noon.

The bikes that crashed were part of several thousand motorcycles taking part in the annual United Bikers Toy Run, which had just started from the Augusta Civic Center. 

Augusta Police estimated less than a fourth of the 3,000 motorcycles involved in the toy run were ahead of the crash. The remaining motorcycles were detoured on outer Civic Center Drive, to make their way to the Windsor Fairgrounds.

Augusta Police, the Maine Department of Transportation and the Maine Turnpike Authority assisted with rerouting traffic off the Interstate, as a team of troopers investigated the crash.  

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and troopers are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call state police in Augusta at 624-7076.
