HARTFORD — One person was hospitalized and another was in custody Friday night following a reported shooting on Desert Drive.

Early reports were that the victim was shot in the abdomen just before 6 p.m. Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies who responded called for a LifeFlight helicopter.

Minutes after police arrived, they reported that the shooter was in custody. No information was available on the victim or the suspect.

Sheriff’s officials were continuing to investigate the shooting later Friday night.

Desert Drive runs off Stetson Road near the East Branch of the Nezinscot River. It was not clear whether the shooting occurred outside or inside a home.
