Hope House Apple Fair Saturday

LEWISTON — Hundreds of brand new youth coats will be given away during Hope House’s Apple Fair from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Family Support Center, 91 College St. 

Children can play fall-themed games and win tickets to exchange for prizes like new coats, thanks to Operation Warm.

Each family can take home a bag of locally grown apples donated by area orchards.

The rain date will be Oct. 21.

DAR chapter to meet

AUBURN — The Mary Dillingham-Burnt Meadow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Auburn Public Library.

This meeting will feature Maine resident and local author Patricia Hughes presenting “Ghost Tales of New England.” She has written several books on buried treasure in Maine and throughout New England.

Members and the public may attend and bring a snack lunch.

Sunday Indie Market Oct. 15

LEWISTON — The Sunday Indie Market will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in Dufresne Plaza.

It will feature hand-selected artisans and vintage dealers, as well as a beer garden. Live music will encourage patrons to stroll through the farmer’s market-style event, while food trucks will be on site to provide fare.

The monthly market will benefit the Lewiston public art fund and will be a family-friendly way to spend an afternoon.

First Auburn Seniors meet

AUBURN — First Auburn Senior Citizens met on Oct. 4 with 46 members in attendance.

Attendance winners were Leroy Walker and Brenda Brann; Pot of Gold, Diane Vincent, Madge Gardner and Don Fyfe; 50/50, Lori Fyfe, Bruce Macomber and Frank Pippin.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, Oct. 18, and include a finger roll luncheon and a Halloween Costume parade.
