RUMFORD — Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Alfreda M. Kaubris, 88, of Sun City Center, Fla., and formerly of Rumford, died at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving husband and family on Wednesday, Oct. 11, in Rumford.

She was born in Rumford on Oct. 21, 1928, the daughter of John and Mina (Russell) Smith, and graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1946.

Alfreda worked for many years at the Rumford Community Hospital, beginning as a switchboard operator and working her way up to secretary for the CEO of the hospital. She was a Communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius – St. John Church and a member of St. Timothy Circle, Daughters of Isabella.

She was married in Rumford on Sept. 3, 1949, to Stanley N. “Ty” Kaubris, who survives of Sun City Center, Fla. Other survivors include daughters, Sally Kaubris and husband, Ed Kowalzyk of Rumford, Andrea Kaubris of Sun City Center, Fla., Jean Cormier and husband, Tim of Gray and Kristen McCullough of Standish; sons, Stan J. Kaubris and wife, Martha of Dover, N.H., Jack Kaubris and wife, Mary of Rumford, Matt Kaubris and wife, Pam of Rumford, Russ Kaubris and wife, Merrianne of Greenfield, Mass.; a brother, Al Smith and wife Joyce, of Mexico; a sister, Anita O’Connell of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren, Timmy, Micah, Allen, Hannah, Moriah, Eliza, Shelby, Dustin, Mollie, McKenzie, Madeline, Alexa, Cameron, Alex, Lindsey, Samantha, Delaney and Calleigh; great-grandchildren, Solomon, Evelyn, Parker, Keegan, Cooper, Brice, Tanner, Isaac, Isabella, Ava, Layla and Ty; many nieces and nephews.
