AUBURN — Kristen C. Loring, Kris as known to family and friends, 68, of Mechanic Falls, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, under the loving care of her family who never left her side.

She was born in Norway on June 4, 1949, the daughter of Roland and Ethel Curtis. She graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1967.

Her career spans pediatrics aide, deputized court officer, private investigator, volunteer, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, among other joys of her lifetime.

Health issues were always chasing Kris from battling cancer and conquering it, to sarcoidosis which involved other health issues in numerous stages in her later years, yet she was a warrior to the end.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Jon Loring; her son, Bryan and wife, Wendy Younk and daughter, Kara Younk; Jon’s children, Heidi Loring Hickman and Samantha (Kevin) Kearns; grandchildren, Kaylee Younk, Mason White, Sara and Cora Younk, Khaari and Derion Hickman, Amanda, Patrick and Alex Kerns; sisters, Gail Goddard of Arizona and Jill Ripley of Portsmouth, N.H.; nephews, Bruce and companion, Stephanie Witham of Oxford and Robby and Coleen Curtis of Massachusetts; and many more nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her parents, Roland and Ethel Curtis; sister, JoAnne Curtis Brown; and brother, Roland Bruce Curtis.

Kris was also known by several identifications and special affections: Aunt T, G Ma, and was most noted for her hockey association, traveling throughout New England with her granddaughter, Kaylee, for many years and attending Sara’s and Cora’s games. Not only was she called Hockey Grandma by all the gals on the team, but she would call out to them during the Zamboni’s last lap and the girls would shoot out onto the ice.

Also, the High Street Gang, as they were known, kept 35 years of friendship banding together several times a year for laughter and amusement.

The family is deeply saddened.
