Society to hold election
MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will elect officers at its Wednesday, Oct. 25, meeting downstairs at the Anglican Church of the Transfiguration, 64 Elm St. Meeting time is 6:30 p.m.
Residents are invited to attend and contribute their time and ideas to the society and hear about the group’s goals and mission. The society would like to contribute, share and hold more events of an historical nature, particularly since the Anglican Church has taken on the responsibility of the building.
Membership is open and free.
Blood drive planned in Lewiston
LEWISTON — An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Kaplan University, 475 Lisbon St.
In light of recent national disasters on top of the regular day-to-day emergencies, the need for blood donors is critical. There will be treats for those who donate.
Kaplan University and LA Metro Chamber of Commerce will host the event.

Androscoggin Democrats to meet
LEWISTON — The monthly meeting of the Androscoggin County Democratic Committee will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Lewiston Armory, Central Avenue.
Those attending should enter through the doors marked “CC” to the right of the main entrance.
The meeting will focus on veterans’ issues. State Rep. Jared Golden, a Marine combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, will moderate a panel presentation and listening session on areas of concern to veterans and to those serving the country.
All are invited to join in the discussion.
In addition to the presentation, an election will be held for county committee secretary.
