AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library’s Fall Book Sale will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

There will be thousands of items priced at or below $2. A wide selection of nonfiction and fiction — from cookbooks to children’s books, science fiction to poetry, and biography to modern fiction — will be available. Shoppers can also expect a great selection of paperbacks, lots of how-to books, and CDs, DVDs, coffee table books and more.

A limited number of book bags, featuring the library’s new logo, will also be available for purchase. All proceeds from the book sale support and expand the collections, programs and services at the library.

The sale will be held in the Androscoggin Community Room and Book Sale Room on the library’s ground floor.

FARMINGTON — St. Joseph’s Altar Guild’s fall rummage sale will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the parish hall on the corner of Quebec and Middle Streets.

RUMFORD — A benefit in memory of Hailey Stewart will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, at the Rumford Eagles.

The event opens at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

There will be a spaghetti and meatball dinner, raffles and a Chinese auction. The DJ will be Dan Richard.

Those who bring a new pair of pajamas, a stuffed animal or toy will receive a free raffle ticket. Raffle winners do not need to be present at the drawing to win.

All proceeds will go to Hailey’s Hugs, continuing Stewart’s battle with childhood cancer for all children and families.

JAY — The Jay-Niles Memorial Library book sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at 983 Main St.

There will be a large selection of books, DVDs and CDs.

All proceeds will benefit the library.

HARRISON — There will be a 3-T Auction on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church.

To start the evening, there will be a free meal of beans, hot dogs, coleslaw and bread at 5 p.m. The auction will begin at 6.

The items to be auctioned will consist of “Talents,” “Treats” and “Treasures.” They include household treasures, antiques, art work, handmade decorations, homemade afghan, cinnamon rolls, cookies, fudge, Finnish Nisu, homemade applesauce, chocolate cake  and whoopie pies.

Additional donations can be brought in the night of the auction.

Proceeds will benefit Papa’s Boots, a local mission set up in the memory of Bruno Leino of Harrison. The mission is associated with Bolster’s Mills United Methodist Church. Bruno’s grandchildren started this project in his honor.

Since 2011 Papa’s Boots has donated hundreds of new pairs of winter boots for children in need in Harrison, Waterford, West Paris, Hebron, South Paris and other nonprofit organizations. Last Christmas Papa’s Boots gave out 106 pairs of boots.

The church is located on 582 Bolsters Mills Road and is handicapped-accessible.

People wishing to make donations to the Papa’s Boots Mission may do so by sending a check payable to BMUMC “Papa’s Boots,” P.O. Box 859, Harrison, ME 04040.

GREENE — Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends will host a Harvest Bottle Drive for the kitties in its care who need medical attention, spay and neutering and rebuilding of the outside colonies due to the harsh weather.

The annual fundraiser has been on hold the last two years because of all medical needs and the damage done to the feline colonies caused by heavy snow, rain and flooding.

Bottle and can donations may be dropped off at the one-day event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in front of Chapter 11 under the tent. Monetary donations can be sent to Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends, P.O. Box 274, Greene, ME 04236.

PARIS — VFW Post 9787 will host an inside yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at 58 Main St. 

Auburn Public Library volunteer Brenda Field sorts some of the hundreds of children’s books that will be available at the library’s Fall Book Sale from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. Book lovers will find a wide variety of books at the sale, and proceeds will help support the library’s collections and programs.
