Rumford Seniors plan trip

PERU — The Rumford Seniors have a trip planned for Friday, Dec. 15, leaving at 11:30 a.m. from the Senior Center in Peru for the 2 p.m. matinee of “The Magic of Christmas.”

The price for the trip is $55. On the return, the seniors will stop for dinner at the participant’s expense.

The last date to sign up is Thursday, Nov. 30.

Andy Valley snowmobilers to meet 

JAY — The Andy Valley Riders Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the clubhouse from October to April.

Texas Hold Em’ poker 

PARIS — The AMVETS’s monthly Texas Hold Em’ poker tournaments are held at from 5 p.m. to midnight on the first Friday of the month at the American Legion Hall. 

Next Tournament will be Friday, Nov 3. 

This event is open to the public. The AMVETS Auxiliary will have a food concession open from 5 p.m. until the end of second break. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Buy-in is usually $50 with a license fee of $5 and an optional $5 High Hand.

Orion in view at observatory

PARIS — Twitchell Observatory will host its monthly Open Observatory Night from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, or Saturday, Nov. 4, on Hooper Ledge Road if skies are clear.

Postponements and confirmed times will be posted on the observatory’s website. 

Orion will come into view at the end of the viewing.

International Games Week at PPL

PARIS — The Paris Public Library will join thousands of libraries around the world celebrating International Games Week by hosting an event on Saturday, Nov. 4, for the 10th annual celebration of gaming in libraries.

From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. the library will be offering a variety of card, board and computer games suitable for the entire family.

The American Library Association is a primary sponsor of International Games Week. Games are an important educational tool and teach technical reading, concentration and strategic thinking. Games also help develop interaction and social skills.
