A club for war service, which sprang from nothing but a bare idea to a membership of nearly a thousand almost overnight, is the record of the Lunn & Sweet Employes War Service Club, which is now a flourishing organization. The firm is noted all over New England for the way in which the employees take hold of any matter. The club will be a big asset to the thirty or more young men who have gone from the Lunn & Sweet company to fight.

What to do with the Town of Turner trash was the topic of discussion by selectmen Monday night as they reviewed a report being sent to the Department of Environmental Protection. The local landfill is scheduled to
close Jan. 1, 1993. Many steps have been taken toward that closure but
the final plans, which must include alternative trash disposal, are not
complete. The final round of water tests are currently under way and following the analysis of the groundwater testing, the town will be developing further plans. The plan being submitted to DEP includes the possible redevelopment of the current landfill site for a transfer station. The site work already completed has provided extensive information for siting and preliminary design provisions, according to the document.
