LEWISTON — A local man was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with minor injuries after he was hit by a car Sunday afternoon on Sabattus Street, according to Lewiston Detective Wayne Clifford.

Michael Monroe, 39, of Lewiston was walking across the street near Family Dollar when he was hit by a silver 2003 Toyota Camry operated by Lisa Cote, 59, of Auburn.

Monroe was taken to CMMC by United Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, Clifford said.

Cote was traveling toward the downtown when the crash occurred around 5 p.m.

Clifford said the accident is being investigated; no charges are expected.
