DEAR SUN SPOTS: I know this is a last minute request but while decorating the Foss Mansion for our open house and Santa Tea this coming weekend, someone suggested it would be a great time to collect prom dresses for our spring 2018 Prom Gown Giveaway. As you might remember, the Woman’s Literary Union opens our house in the spring each year and offers free prom dresses that have been donated to us by many kind-hearted, local people.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, as part of our open house weekend, we will be hosting a Santa Tea from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit with Santa, take pictures, play games and enjoy the snacks provided. Admission is $5 per person, and children under 2 years of age get in free. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult, and if that adult brings in a prom dress to donate to our spring cause, we will waive the admission fee for that adult. Unlike our Doll Tea in the spring, this event has no set time for sessions and no tickets will be sold ahead of time. Tickets will be sold at the door and credit cards are accepted. Bring in that prom dress you no longer need, help a local young lady enjoy the 2018 prom season and save on your admission fee.

Happy Holidays Sunspots! You provide a great service to our local communities.

ANSWER: This sounds like such a fun time! I think it’s very clever that the members of the Woman’s Literary Union thought to have the prom dress collection during the holiday open house. The Foss Mansion at 19 Elm St. in Auburn will also be open from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, and from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, for viewing of the decorations. This will be the only time the mansion will be open to the public this holiday season.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The annual Christmas sale will be held at Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris on Tuesday, Dec. 5, and Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. All proceeds go to the Activity Department. Any donation will be graciously accepted.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Monday, Oct. 23, a Sun Spots reader was looking for a place to donate her many dolls. I would like to contact her about her collection. I just remember her name is Heidi.

— Lee, no town

ANSWER: Since I can’t give out contact information without the letter writer’s permission, I hope Heidi reads this and responds by writing to us with her contact info!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m having trouble finding Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Crunch cereal.

— No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: I called Hannaford in Lewiston and they have your cereal. I have also seen it at both Target and Walmart. You can order it in four-packs on Amazon, too!
