WALES — Cooper Chiasson had a double-double to pace Dirigo to a 61-35 victory over Oak Hill in an MVC boys’ basketball contest.

Chiasson led the Cougars with 15 points while grabbing 16 rebounds. Alex Gorham had 13 points while Jeremy St. Germain had 11.

Gorham had three 3-pointers and as a team Dirigio (1-1) had nine.

Darryn Bailey led the Raiders (0-2) with 12 points.

Winthrop 73 Mt. Abram 32

SALEM — Jared McLaughlin led the Ramblers with 20 points in a 73-32 victory over Mt. Abram in a boys’ basketball contest.

Lenny Hill chipped in with 15 points for the Ramblers (2-0).

Nate Luce led the Roadrunners (0-2) with nine points. 

Richmond 69, Mountain Valley 65

RICHMOND — Mountain Valley battled to the very end but couldn’t complete the comeback in a boys’ basketball contest against Richmond.

The Bobcats held on to a 69-65 victory after the Falcons chipped away at a 12-point deficit with fewer than two minutes to play by hitting a couple of 3-pointers and creating a few turnovers. Richmond was able to run out the clock on its final possession.

Zach Small led Richmond (2-0) with 35 points, while Matt Rines had 17 points and Casey Gorman had 10 in the victory. 

Taylor Pelletier had 17 points for the Falcons (1-1) while Michael Pare had 16. Keegan Davies added 14 points.

Madison 64, Telstar 55

BETHEL — Evan Bess paced the Bulldogs with 23 points in a 64-55 victory over Telstar in an MVC boys’ basketball contest.

Sean Whalen was solid with 18 points for Madison (1-1), while Jacob Meader had 11.

Jarrett Bean paced the Rebels (0-2) with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Blake Rothwell had 17 points.

Spruce Mountain 49, Monmouth 32

MONMOUTH — Brett Frey led the Phoenix with 16 points as Spruce Mountain defeated Monmouth, 49-32. 

Mason Shink and Nick Lombardi each added nine points for Spruce Mountain (2-0).

Gabe Martin and Connor Davies each had eight points to lead the Mustangs (1-1) in scoring.
