AUBURN — The Auburn Public Services Department has been awarded the prestigious American Public Works Association accreditation designation.

The accreditation program recognizes public works agencies that go beyond the requirements of the nationally established management practices in the public works industry, as contained in the association’s Public Works Management Practices Manual.

Auburn Public Services officially received its accreditation award from the association’s Region 1 Director Gary Losier during the City Council meeting on Dec. 18 at Auburn Hall.

The Auburn Public Services Department becomes the 130th agency in North America to be awarded accreditation and the first in the state of Maine.

The city of Auburn Public Service Department was recently awarded an accreditation.
