RUMFORD — Boy Scout Troop 580 of Rumford will have a Christmas tree disposal fundraiser in early January.
The event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, for the Dixfield and Peru areas, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 6, for the Rumford-Mexico area.
People have until Jan. 3 to register by calling/texting Scout Master Richard Masterson at 207-418-5212 and leaving their name, address, number and area. Cost is $5 a tree. On the day of pick-up, residents should leave the tree in front of their house.
All trees will be disposed of properly at the Mexico Transfer Station.
All proceeds will go directly toward Troop 580 to help pay for new equipment, such as propane stoves and tents for camping.
