LEWISTON — On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Lord called our mother, Murielle P. Turmenne, home to heaven after 90 years of servanthood on this Earth. She was born March 20, 1927, to Emile and Albertine (Blais) Martineau in Lewiston.
She attended Lewiston schools and started working at Bates Mill as a weaver in Weave Room 5 in Lewiston until her retirement. She married her husband, Bernard A. Turmenne, on Feb. 15, 1947, and they had seven children.
In her retirement years and after her husband’s passing in 1985, she enjoyed traveling and volunteered in many capacities. She volunteered over 10,000 hours at St. Mary’s Hospital and then volunteered at St. Mary’s food pantry for several years. She volunteered at many bean suppers, served at church and was always willing to lend a hand. You could find her in the kitchen cooking, preparing food, serving others or cleaning and picking up after the functions were over.
She was a woman of great faith, growing up at Holy Cross Church and then attending Holy Family Church with her husband while raising her children. Later in life she began attending and became a member of Pathway Vineyard Church in Lewiston. She lived a life of integrity; she was kind, generous and served the Lord through serving others.
She is survived by six of her children, two daughters, Suzanne Adams of Bowdoin and Rachel Turmenne of Sabattus; four sons, Charles of Lisbon, Edmond and his wife, Helen, of Brunswick, Thomas and his wife, Debra, of Brunswick, and David and his wife, Myra, of Lewiston; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Theresa Rivers, of Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard; her son, Michael; her grandson, Adam; her brothers, Lucien, Roger and Leo; and her sister, Laurette Ouelette.
We want to thank the nurses, CNAs and staff of 4 West at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion for their wonderful care of our mother during her short stay, as well as Beacon Hospice during her last two months.
She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as His word states: “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8) We are at peace knowing that we will see her again.

Murielle P. Turmenne
