AUBURN — Maine country music artist Slim Andrews of Auburn had a milestone year with his music in 2017. According to the Triplestrand Airplay Charts posted weekly throughout the year on the Triplestrand Productions website, Slim’s songs were played 85,139 times reaching millions of listeners.

No living artist in Maine country music history, at Slim’s age of 86, has ever reached this level of airplay in a single year.

In addition to the Slim’s record setting airplay numbers in 2017, Slim also charted 95 percent of the time on the Top 200 Artists Chart, and 45 percent of the time on the Top 40 Single Chart. This, too, is a record for an 86-year-old Maine country music artist. This chart success and airplay by Slim demonstrates his popularity as an international independent country music artist.

Slim Andrews is a prominent figure in Maine country music. He has been instrumental in creating the Maine Country Music Association, the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame and the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum located at the Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls.

He is also a member of the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame and the Massachusetts Country Music Awards Association Hall of Fame. Slim still serves as chairman of the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame Induction Committee, and remains active in giving tours of the MCMHOFM.

Slim recently retired from live performances. His latest recording, “In My Old Pickup Truck,” a tribute to Johnny Cash written by Jim Flynn, was released to worldwide independent country music radio stations in December 2017.
