SOUTH PARIS — Philip Russell Giasson, 36, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 14, at his home.

Philip was born in Norway on April 25, 1981, a beloved son to Russell and Karalee (Foster) Giasson. He attended Paris Christian Academy and later graduated from First Assembly Christian School in Concord, N.C. He attended University of North Carolina, Charlotte and Central Maine Community College, and he earned numerous computer certifications, and with his vast understanding of computers, he was getting ready to launch his own network security business.

Where do you begin when describing such a sweet and kind and giving person? Philip cared about people. He worked many different jobs, always with a heart for helping people. From early in life he was curious and gifted and became skilled at fixing things: vehicles, computers, carpentry. His first job was with Systems Plus building computers, and he continued to help people with computers and networking and phone needs. While still in high school he also volunteered to help Advent Christian Conference with upgrading its computers and networking.

Philip had a strong relationship with God and saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and loved to encourage and point others to the Lord. He attended several churches, though he had a special relationship with the Oxford Advent Christian Church, where he enjoyed singing with the praise team.

He had a passion for healthy food and worked at growing organic vegetables at his home, and he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Philip had caring compassion for others and a giving spirit, rarely saying no to anyone’s needs. He truly wanted to help everyone. A greeting from Philip meant a strong and warm hug, and he will be missed for those hugs and his caring ways and how he could put a smile on your face.

He is survived by his parents, Russell and Karalee, of Mechanic Falls; two sisters, Amanda and Desarae, both of Portland; and three nephews, Cameron, Bryson and Brayden; his grandmothers, Shirley Twitchell, of Oxford, and Frantie Giasson, of Norway; aunts and uncles: Les (Ella) Boardman, of Florida, Larraine DeVaughn, of Florida, David Giasson, Marie (Morris) LaCroix, Rose Giasson, Brenda Giasson and Raylene Giasson, each of Maine, Greg (Melissa) Twitchell of New Hampshire, and Ben Twitchell of Maine; and cousins: Chris Monelt, Crystal (Peter) Strout, Nichelle Giasson, Lisa (Kraig) Wilkinson, Rob Giasson, Greta Giasson, Joshua Foster, Amy Boyd, Casey Grover, Bryan Giasson, Tim Bryant, Angie Bryant, Lola, Ray DeVaughn, Ethan Twitchell, Brandon Twitchell, Darin Twitchell and Lauren Twitchell. He will also be deeply missed by his fiancee, Linnea Goodridge, and her daughter, Eliza, of Bolsters Mills.
