BUCKFIELD — Scott Wallace Gowell, 69, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 13, surrounded by his family at South Pond Farm. He was born in Lewiston on April 13, 1948, the son of the late George and Laura (Doe) Gowell.

Scott was happy to call the state of Maine home for his entire life. He grew up in Auburn, graduated from Edward Little High School and went on to the University of Maine, receiving his bachelor’s degree in education. Scott served in the National Guard. On April 23, 1970, he married his “Sweetie,” Li (Alida Macfarland). Together they shared a loving marriage for over 47 years. Scott worked for the Auburn School Department for nearly 40 years and retired as an administrator. Scott embodied the spirit of a true teacher and mentor in every aspect of his life. In his retirement, Scott enjoyed sharing time on his beautiful farm with friends and family.

Scott is survived by his loving wife; his two daughters, Kristi Roark and Lisa Suro; his sister, Patricia Pelletier; his adoring grandchildren; and a very large and loving extended family.

Friends and family are invited to share their memories and offer their condolences by visiting Scott’s online guestbook at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
