TURNER — An 11-member committee will begin updating the town’s Comprehensive Plan at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 31, Town manager Kurt Schaub told selectmen this week.

The members are John Davis, Dianne Maziarz, Ralph Caldwell, Karen Youland, Harry Ricker, Matthew Maloney, Mary Briggs, Marcus Reny, Scott Abbotts, Eric Cousens and Mike Gotto. They will review the plan, elect a chairman and vice chairman and set a meeting schedule.

Residents voted last year to update the plan, which guides town growth.

Jacob Gilbert of Turner has been hired as highway department assistant manager. He worked for Buckfield’s highway crew for seven years and the Maine Department of Transportation before that.

Gilbert will be point person when Manager Leland Searles is off duty.

Megan Ricker will serve as Planning Board secretary.

Schaub told the board that Affordable Well Drilling installed the new sprinkler system pump at the Town Office. Fire Chief Rodney Guptill refilled the 2,300-gallon tank after the fire suppression pump was installed.
