AUBURN — Jeanne M. Lessard, 86, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on Oct. 24, 1931, she is the daughter of Adelard and Alice Bergeron Landry. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, Class of ’50.

On July 4, 1952, she married Fernand “Pete” Lessard, who passed away on July 20, 2009. Jeanne was a lifelong parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and was involved in a wide range of church groups and activities, from the Ladies of St. Anne to counting collections. She also volunteered in her local community, from helping at St. Mary’s Hospital to being an election worker.

She was survived by two sons, Marc and wife, Debra, of Mechanic Falls, and Pierre “Pete,” of Lewiston; a daughter, Claire, and husband, Ron Gagnon, of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Eric and wife, Tina-Marie Lessard, Randy and wife, Shannon Lessard, Sarah Gagnon and husband, Dana Burbank, Allison Gagnon and husband, Martin Graef, and Cody, Rebecca-Marie and fiance, Austin Alfredson, and Lauren Lessard; seven great-grandchildren, Jack, Charlize and Leilah Lessard, Ciana Jones, Trent Lessard, Carter Burbank and Evan Graef; two sisters, Juliette Bannister, of Auburn, and Pauline Cashman and husband, John, of York; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her stepmother, Felicia Landry; eight brothers; and six sisters.
