RUMFORD — Irene M. Amero, 78, of Mexico, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Rumford Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Mexico on April 11, 1939, a daughter of Aime A. and Donalda A. (Boudreau) Rancourt.

Irene attended St. Theresa’s School and Mexico High School.

She met the love of her life at an early age and spent many happy years building their life together with their four children, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

During her later years, Irene and Jack enjoyed traveling together for many vacations. One of her favorite places to go was Quebec, Canada.

She also enjoyed her family reunions, where she could spend many hours with her sisters and brothers visiting and conversing about all their lives and many fond memories that they shared.

Irene will be remembered for her kind heart, her generosity and her great sense of humor. Anyone who met her was happy just to be in her presence; she had a way about her that made you feel special every time you were with her. To her children she was their special angel; we could not have asked for a better mom. She was always there for each one of us with her love and support, no matter what was going on in our lives. We were truly blessed for all the years we had our angel we called MOM.

Surviving are her husband, John B. “Jack” Amero, of Mexico; her children, Sharon A. Perry and husband, Jeffrey, of Rumford, Andrea M. Benson and husband, Craig, of York, Veronica “Ronnie” Hanson, of Dixfield, and Jeffery S. Amero, of Rumford; siblings, Aime “Pete” Rancourt and wife, Annette, of So.
