HOLDEN — Thomas “Tom” Raymond McBean, 68, passed away of natural causes at his residence in Holden, on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Born in Rumford, to Harold Raymond and Kathleen Faye (Goodridge) McBean on March 13, 1949, Tom graduated from Stephens High School in 1967 and attended Husson College before signing on with the Chicago Cubs Baseball Organization in 1971.

Tom was a well-known and respected athlete in high school and in college. He is remembered as a basketball standout, stellar pitcher, towering home run hitter, softball mainstay, Little League coach, dedicated son/father/grandfather and a friend to many who loved him for his easy manner, contagious smile, charming personality and quick wit. He was a salesman and a financial services professional in the Bangor area for the past 48 years.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kristina Paterson McBean, of Hampden; daughter, Natalie Fournier; son-in-law, Adam Fournier; grandchildren, Derek and Thomas, of Bangor; many special brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, a nephew and many dear cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother; father; brother, John Albert McBean; and son, Craig McBean.
