OXFORD — Martin Black, 78, of Oxford, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, at his home. He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 6, 1939, the son of Harry and Beatrice Ridley Black.

Martin faithfully served in the U.S. Navy. He married Winona Winslow; they enjoyed 45 years of marriage before her passing on March 17, 2015. He had been employed at shoe shops, Bob’s Discount and Walmart, but spent many years working for Palmer Construction setting utility poles. He was an avid reader and enjoyed tinkering in his yard. He loved watching “The Three Stooges.”

He is survived by his sister, Marion Buck; stepdaughter, Linda Patten, and her companion, George Ross; granddaughters, Tamera Hodgkin and her companion, Andrew Shea, and Stephanie Durgin and her husband, Bryan; great-grandchildren, Andrew Allen, Nicholas Allen, Sara Farnsworth and Zachary Farnsworth; many nieces and nephews; and his ex-son-in-law, Stanley Patten. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Nellie and Ona; and a brother, Donnie.
