A Medford man was indicted by a Penobscot County Grand Jury last week for a head-on crash in Alton last November that killed a relative by marriage.

Tyler Creighton, 25,  was indicted on charges of manslaughter, aggravated criminal operating under the influence of intoxicants, driving to endanger and violation of condition of release for the Nov. 2017 where he struck a vehicle driven by Robin Gardner, 63, of Lagrange on the Bennoch Road. Gardner was Creighton’s half-brother’s mother-in-law. Creighton allegedly was texting while driving home from a methadone clinic in Bangor; Gardner was on her way to work.

Creighton has been held at the Penobscot County Jail since being arrested the same day as the accident, having not been able to post $10,000 bail. He had been arrested just over a month prior to that accident for OUI, according to Piscataquis County court records.

The manslaughter charge is the most serious. On that count alone, Creighton could be imprisoned for up to 30 years in prison and ordered to pay a $50,000 fine.
