NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills will host a puppy shower for the Norway Police Department’s new dog, Bolo.

The Police Department wrote on its Facebook page that the puppy shower is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Town Office on Danforth Street.

Responsible Pet Care said gift suggestions include a dog bed; cooling pad; ball-on-rope toys; Kong dog toys; shedding blades; gift certificates to Tractor Supply Co., Paris Farmers Union or Oxford Hills Veterinary Hospital; dog shampoo; food-storage containers; or cash to be used toward a bulletproof vest for the dog.

Police Chief Rob Federico said Responsible Pet Care will periodically hold “puppy showers” for puppies, something he said “is really nice.”

He said he’s pleased by how people have come to love Bolo.

“I got a text from my daughter in Pittsburgh telling me that she thought it was awesome that we got a dog,” Federico said. “I think a lot of people understand the value of having a police dog in town.

“More than just that, (Bolo) is friendly. He comes around everyday to the department and says hello to everyone in the Town Office. Everyone loves him.”
