WINTER PARK, Fla. — Richard E. Bartow passed away Jan. 20 after a short struggle with cancer.

Dick was born May 29, 1932, in Long Island, N.Y., growing up in Port Jefferson. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and served in the United States Air Force as a research engineer, attaining the rank of captain.

Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career as a senior electrical engineer with Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y. Dick married Barbara B. Fish on Dec. 26, 1953. She predeceased him on Feb. 14, 1977.

Dick had a lifelong love of sailing and was an award-winning photographer. He especially enjoyed his summers on Thompson Lake in Otisfield.

Dick leaves his wife of 40 years, Isabel M. Bartow of Florida; his son, Ken Bartow and his wife, Polly of Otisfield and Biddeford; daughter, Cyndi Duckworth and her husband, Mike of Florida; daughter, Kay Bartow of Ohio; stepchildren, Nancy Schall and her husband, Steve of Florida, Patty Lewis of New York, and Mike Rau and his wife, Christine of New York; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dick was a kind and loving man who will be missed by many.
